Double Bay Vet Clinic accept referrals for a limited number of medical cases. We are one of the few specially licensed facilities in Australia to udnertake the treatment of hyperthyroid cats with radtioactive iodine. We can also arrange referral consultations with Professor Malik for medical cases or cases requiring an ultrasound scan.
Iodine Therapy for Cats with Hyperthyroidism (Nuclear Medicine)
Hyperthyroidism is the most common disease affecting older cats (seven year and above). There are several treatment options including tablets and surgery, but by far the most effective, safest and most convenient is the use of radioactive iodine (it isn’t as scary as it sounds).
We are one of the only practices in country to offer this service. And Dr.Sally has treated over 480 cases during her time at Double Bay Vet
Our kennels have been specially designed to accommodate the cases and we have succesfully treated hundreds of cats from all over Australia.
If your cat is being medically treated for hyperthyroidism at another clinic, this service is still available to your cat, please ask your veterinarian about this treatment. We offer a free pick up and delivery service in the Sydney area. (Not as far as WA, sorry! But we will collect any referrals from Sydney airport.)

Specialist Ultrasonography and Medicine Referrals
Ultrasonography is available at the practice. Professor Malik is available for echocardiography and we can arrange specialist ultrasonographer for more detailed examination.
