Dentistry @ Double Bay Veterinary Clinic

Why we're a great choice for your pet's tooth care.

There is only one disease we can guarantee that every cat, dog, rabbit (and human) will suffer from at one point or another and that is dental disease. Tooth pain, as anyone who has ever had toothache will agree, is not pleasant at all. Sadly the great majority of pets have a toothache of one kind or another.

Which is why we are absolutely committed to eliminating this disease wherever we see it.

Health Check

Whenever your pet visits for its annual health check we perform a dental assessment. If we find a problem we’ll advise you of how to solve it. If we find everything is in good shape, we’ll advise you on how to keep it that way.

Training

Our vets are trained in the special techniques required to treat a range of common dental conditions.  Dr. Nicol, for example, is a member of the British Veterinary Dental Association and was the dental expert at an 18-vet hospital in London for almost a decade.

We regularly attend Continuing Education meetings to make sure our skills stay up to date. As with all things in medicine, the more skilled and experienced the surgeon, the better the likely outcome.

Equipment

Double Bay Vet Clinic use modern dental equipment like air driven polishers and drills.

 Follow-up

Performing a dental procedure on your pet provides temporary relief from the problem, but without a homecare strategy the problem will return. So it is important that you learn new ways to prevent the problem coming back.

Part of our approach is to make sure you know the best steps you can take to prevent dental disease in the future. So we’re happy to give as much coaching on things like tooth brushing as you need!
